About Barcelona Experience

Barcelona Experience is a fully licensed travel agency, GC-002877, running private tours in Barcelona and Catalonia since 2003. Every day is private, for one party only, with no group to join. Days are planned around the time you have and a written plan goes out in advance. Entry tickets are bought on your behalf. Quoted prices are final, with no tax added at billing. Cancellations made 45 days or more before the date are refunded in full.

Booking and paying

How do we book a day with you?

Tell us your dates and what you have in mind. Most people tell us how many days they have and ask what can be done in that time, so a plan comes back before any money does. When the plan is right, a deposit confirms the date.

How much is the deposit?

25% of the price, plus any planned entrance fees in full. It confirms the date. Entrance fees, tickets, bodega fees and other third-party services, once paid for, are non-refundable at any time.

When is the balance due?

30 days before the date. Booking 60 days or fewer before the date, there is no balance: the full price is paid at booking.

How do we pay?

Through our online payment gateway, by card, with no surcharge. Bank transfer is also available.

Is the deposit refundable?

Up to 45 days before the date, yes: cancel then and the price is refunded in full. Entrance fees, tickets, bodega fees and other third-party services, once paid for, are non-refundable at any time. Closer in than 45 days, the terms set out what comes back.

How long is a quote good for?

30 days.

What the price covers

Is IVA included?

Yes. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Are entry tickets part of the price?

No. We buy them on your behalf, plus a €3 service charge per ticket, and they are charged in full at booking with the deposit. Entrance fees, tickets, bodega fees and other third-party services, once paid for, are non-refundable at any time.

Is the price per person or for the group?

You are charged for the party size you booked. Most tours are quoted on a base party size, with a per-person charge for anyone beyond it, up to a maximum group size. Photography sessions are priced for the whole party rather than per person.

Tickets and lead time

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Sagrada Família and Park Güell can sell out a month ahead, which is why we buy the tickets when you book rather than closer to the day.

Whose name are the tickets in?

Each visitor's own. Both venues issue tickets in the traveller's name, so we need the full name of everyone in the party, exactly as it appears on the passport or ID they will travel with.

Are the tickets fixed to a date and time?

Yes. Each one is for a set date and entry time. Entrance fees, tickets, bodega fees and other third-party services, once paid for, are non-refundable at any time.

What if a site is already sold out on our date?

We tell you straight away rather than leave it open, and we say what is still possible in the time you have.

Who it works for

Do you offer a group tour we can join?

No. Everything we run is private, for your party only. There is no scheduled departure and nobody else on the day.

How big can the group be?

It varies by tour and by vehicle, and most have no fixed ceiling. Larger groups scale with more guides and more resources: about 15 to 16 riders per guide on a bike tour, 10 to 15 per guide on foot.

Do you take children?

Yes, and they are part of the day rather than walked alongside it. We talk to them, ask them questions and point out the things likely to interest someone their age.

What if someone in the party has limited mobility?

Tell us before the day is planned and it is built around them. Where equipment helps we arrange it: we have rented wheelchairs and sit-down electric scooters for clients before now.

What language will the day be in?

English and Spanish are the working languages. Another language can be arranged if you need one.

Planning your days

We have three days in Barcelona. What should we do?

Tell us how many days you have and we will suggest what fits them. The plan comes back built around the days you have, not around a tour we want to sell.

Can we combine different things in one day?

Yes, and it is how most days are built. A bike tour in the morning and the Gothic Quarter in the afternoon is an ordinary day here. Over three days, two might be in the city and one an excursion.

Do we get a plan in advance?

Yes. A written plan goes out before the day, with the sequence and the timings set out. It is a structure rather than a script: on the day it flexes for pace, for weather, and for what you turn out to be interested in.

Who plans the day and who runs it?

We plan every day in-house. The owner runs many of the tours himself, and the rest go to guides we have worked with before, who run the day as planned.

Is lunch included?

No, and it is not skipped either. Lunch is planned into the day with time set aside for it, usually somewhere local that we book in advance. You pay the restaurant directly and nothing is added to your price. We pick places we can be in and out of in about an hour, rather than the two hours or more a Barcelona lunch usually takes.

Who pays for the guide's lunch?

You do, on a full day or any day where a meal is planned. It is the same as entry tickets: the guide's costs on the day sit with you.

Changes and cancellations

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 45 days or more before the date are refunded in full. Closer in than 45 days, part of the price is retained, on a scale set out in our terms. Tell us in writing, by WhatsApp or email. Entrance fees, tickets, bodega fees and other third-party services, once paid for, are non-refundable at any time.

Can we change the date or the start time?

Ask us in writing, at any point, including the day before. Whether it works depends on what is already booked for you: the guide, the car, the bikes, the tickets. We answer case by case, the change is in place only once we confirm it, and it can cost more. A later start usually means a shorter day, not a later finish.

What if fewer of us come than we booked?

The price does not change. It was quoted for the number you booked, and that is what was held for you.

What if more of us come?

Let us know before the day. We will take them where we can, and a charge may apply beyond the size your quote covers.

What if our flight is delayed?

A late arrival is not a cancellation. Our terms deal with it under arrival and delays.
